Little Miss Vogue - Pedigree Fashion doll 1959-1963

Welcome to The Little Miss Vogue website.

Little Miss Vogue (LMV) was produced by Pedigree in 1959,described by them at the time as "a new concept of the teenage doll and her wardrobe to win the hearts of the older girl and the imaginative adult".

LMV epitomises so much about life in the 1950's,the difference between teenagers and adults was much less obvious than in later years and this is apparent in the styling of her clothes which were at the  time the height of fashion and very glamerous, even the housework outfit is stylish.LMV is a very feminine and curvy girl unlike many later teenage fashion dolls. She has quite a prominent chest and bottom and those arched feet were made to wear heels!

Pedigree made several fashion dolls at this time, many were made of hard plastic and on a larger scale.LMV is 10"/26 cm tall and unmarked. She was made of vinyl with sleeping eyes and rooted hair in four colour ways; platinum blonde, honey blonde, brunette and auburn.I've included photographs of each of these to highlight the colour difference.Like most fashion dolls of the time she was sold wearing a pair of pearl earrings. She was sold boxed for 17/- and came wearing her bra, panty girdle, stockings and high heeled sandals that were worn with everything, including ballet!

Her open toed shoes were made in three colour ways, white, pale blue and pale pink. Each doll and outfit had a booklet illustrating the fashions available. They were not named but simply numbered and designed to keep her fashionable whether she was taking tea, cocktails, partying,on the beach, doing the housework or going to bed.Her booklet Round the clock with LMV takes her through a day with a variety of outfits for every occasion.LMV was discontinued in 1963 the year that heralded the arrival of Sindy.

She is a rare and quirky little doll. It's hard to find really good examples, the auburn haired doll is particularly rare. She does however appear to avoid many problems commonly found in some later dolls such as blotchiness, fading and her fingers seem to survive fairly well. It's hard to find information about her and her clothes are generally illustrated in black and white which doesn't help with identification. I''m not a doll or an LMV expert but she does deserve to be recognised and I hope this site will help people to identify who she is and what her clothing looks like.I would appreciate any photographs of those items that I dont have to build up a complete photographic catalogue of each item.
